easy as pie. By- Little Momma

When I saw the movie Waitress, I really fell in love. I loved the whole premise of being a pie maker in a pie restaurant. I loved that she named her pies after life experiences. And well, I just really love pie... so I decided to host a Waitress Pie Party!

I invited a bunch of my baking friends over, with the promise from them to bring their most fabulous pie creation. (and think of a creative name for it!)
My entry was called "sour-sweetie pie" and was just Martha Stewarts Lemon Curd poured into a store bought crust. I guess I could have gone the extra mile and made something from scratch, but I didn't feel like dealing with graham cracker crumbs AND host a party. Next time.
You know there's a party if you see a:

All of the pies looked so divine. But, soon it was time for judging and of course-- time to cut into our pretty creations.
While we watched our movie, I had each guest taste all of the pies and vote on their favorite. Winner received a homemade apron!

Have you had a food-themed party?

Isn't every party about food?! I think the closest I have come to this is a Christmas cookie exchange. That is so much fun - and my family loves it when I get home - and they get to investigate which might be their new favorites.

We had a Key Lime pie.
Chocolate Silk pie.
Pecan pie.
Dutch Apple pie.
Lemon curd pie.
Regular apple pie.
and ice cream!

Dutch Apple pie beat the rest!

This all looks so yummy, but where are all the recipes. Great idea for a party.

That is great! Our family has done similar type of partys with different foods, such as trying different brands of meatballs for spaggetti and things like that. Looks like a good time.

What a great idea. I love movie-watching parties, and to throw the food theme in these is genius. I usually feed people, but we've never had a competition. Thanks for giving me an idea for the next girlfriend get-together!

"Pie, pie, my oh my!"

We sing this in our house a lot. And now, after seeing your pictures and craving pecan pie in the worst way, I will be singing it all day long.

When My Big Fat Greek Wedding came out on VHS (awhile ago) I think my mom and I bought the first copies!!! Being a German Irish girl and all, I loved the movie!! I threw a MBFGW party! Everyone had to bring a Greek dish, and / or dessert. Yummmy !! Then after we ate our dinner, we watched MBFGW. A day none of us will ever forget! Theme Parties are a blast. I love your blog!! Mair
